Privacy Policy

Apunte

Last updated: September 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how developedbyjacob handles information related to the use of the Apunte application, hereinafter the “Application”.

In short: the Application works entirely offline. It has no user accounts, no servers, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking. Everything the user writes stays on their device.

By using the Application, the user accepts the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Application controller

Developer: developedbyjacob

Contact email: kiktruedeveloper@gmail.com

2. Information entered in the Application

The Application allows users to create notes made of text, checklists, drawings, and images; organize them into folders and tags; pin, archive, and delete them; and set reminders.

To provide these features, the Application stores the following information on the device:

  • The content of notes: text, checklists, drawings, and attached images.
  • Folders, tags, and the pinned, archived, or deleted status of each note.
  • Times configured for reminders.
  • Appearance preferences, such as theme, accent color, and background.
  • Encrypted content of private notes and the data needed to verify the PIN (see section 5).

This information is stored locally in the Application's private storage on the user's device and is never sent to servers operated by the developer or by third parties. The Application does not require an account or registration. The developer cannot access, view, or retrieve the notes saved by the user.

3. Camera and images

The user can add images to notes by taking a photo with the camera or selecting an existing image from the device's gallery. To do so, the Application may request access to the camera or use the Android image picker.

Access is only used when the user explicitly chooses to add an image. Only the images selected or taken by the user are copied into the Application's local storage; the Application does not browse, read, or upload the rest of the user's photos.

4. Reminders and notifications

The Application allows users to schedule reminders for notes. To do so, it may request permission to show notifications. This permission is used solely to display reminders configured by the user.

Reminders are scheduled and managed locally on the device through Android's notification system. The user can modify or disable notifications in the Application or in Android settings.

5. Private notes and PIN

The user can protect notes with a PIN. The content and attachments of private notes are encrypted on the device using AES-GCM, with a key derived from the PIN using PBKDF2-SHA-256.

The PIN itself is not stored. Because of this, if the user forgets the PIN, neither the user nor the developer can recover the content of private notes.

6. Home screen widget

The Application offers an optional Android home screen widget that can show pinned notes and provide quick access to create new notes. Private notes are never shown in the widget.

Content shown in the widget is visible to anyone who can see the device's home screen. The user decides whether to add the widget and can remove it at any time.

7. Backups and sharing

The Application's data is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup, so notes are not copied to the user's Google account by the Application.

The user can export a backup file from the settings and import it later, for example on a new device. Exporting only happens when explicitly requested by the user: the file is shared through the Android share menu and saved to the location or application the user chooses. Private notes remain encrypted inside exported backups and require the same PIN after restoring. Importing a backup replaces the data currently stored in the Application, after asking the user for confirmation.

The developer does not receive a copy of exported files. When the user saves or shares a backup through another application or service, such as a cloud storage provider, its processing is subject to that service's privacy policy.

8. Advertising, analytics, and tracking

The Application does not display advertisements, does not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not track the user's activity inside or outside the Application.

If the user opens a link included in a note, it is opened in the browser or application chosen by the user, and is subject to that service's privacy policy.

9. Purpose of processing

The information described in this Policy is used only to:

  • Provide the note-taking and organization features.
  • Show reminders configured by the user.
  • Protect private notes with encryption.
  • Display the home screen widget.
  • Apply the user's appearance preferences.

The developer does not collect, sell, or share any user data.

10. Data retention and deletion

Notes and settings remain on the device until the user:

  • Deletes notes and empties the trash within the Application.
  • Clears the Application's data in Android settings.
  • Uninstalls the Application.

Because the developer does not receive or store any data on its own servers, it cannot delete it remotely or recover it after it has been deleted.

11. Security

The Application stores data in its private storage, protected by Android's application sandbox, and encrypts private notes as described in section 5. However, no electronic system can guarantee absolute security. Users are advised to protect their device with a password, PIN, pattern, fingerprint, or another locking method.

12. Children

The Application is not specifically designed for children and does not collect personal information from anyone, including minors.

If a parent or guardian has any questions, they may contact the developer using the email address indicated in this Policy.

13. Third-party services

The Application does not integrate third-party services that process user data. It only interacts with:

  • Google Play, for distribution and updates of the Application, and to open the store pages of other applications by the developer when the user taps them in the settings. No information is sent when doing so, other than what Google Play itself receives when a store page is opened.
  • Android system services for the camera, image picker, notifications, storage, widgets, and sharing.
  • Applications voluntarily selected by the user to open links or share files.

Processing performed by these services is governed by their own privacy policies and terms of use.

14. User rights and control

The user has full control over the data stored on their device and can view, modify, or delete it from the Application at any time.

The user can also:

  • Revoke camera or notification permissions in Android settings.
  • Remove the home screen widget.
  • Clear the Application's data.
  • Uninstall the Application.

For any privacy-related questions, the user can contact the developer at kiktruedeveloper@gmail.com.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when new features, external services, or legal changes are introduced. The date of the last update will appear at the beginning of the document. Users are advised to review this Policy periodically to learn about any changes.
